Addendum

Last night we watched Granada's sunset atop a hill in a plaza overlooking the palace. There were dozens of people there, all with our same idea. We had enjoyed a long day, and nothing sounded better than a cheap bottle of wine and some good relaxation. All we heard around us was thick spanish, all the c's becoming th's, it was marvelous.

The joy of knowing a certain part of a language really kicks in when it's the language you understand. We both spend half our time eves dropping -simply because we can- and the other half telling each other what we just heard.

We were sitting enjoying our wine when a kind woman asked if we would like our picture taken together. Of course we would! We rarely have pictures taken together, and this seemed too good to be true.

Of course it was! Erik and I were facing each other and had to look to photographer while balancing our wine in between us. Erik spilled wine all over the crotch of his jeans. The picture turned out with both of us laughing hysterically. Of course the woman felt bad, but Erik handled it with grace. We kept the picture, and it was easily our favorite of the evening. I even got in a dirty joke or two about Erik's new stain. All in all, it was a great night!

On our walk home we of course 'stopped to smell the roses'. We took the long route back, winding through all the tiny cobble stone streets. We would stop each other and say LOOK AT THESE FLOWERS, NO!, Look at THESE flowers! It was only when a group of locals our age caught us and belly laughed in our faces that we realized how smitten we truly were with Granada.

Let me say, life is good & the livins' easy.
