Barca, the free

Barcelona is free. Uninhibited. Uncensored. Absolutely wild. And, I am crazy for it. The whole feel of the city is a big MIND YOUR OWN BUSINESS kinda thing. In so far, that you can go about your crazy, wild, uncensored life without judgement, and I expect the same. The air is literally laden with it. What a concept!! Everyone here just does whatever they want, wears what they want, says whatever they want, and surely parties whenever they want.

The fashion of the Catalans, SO unique. I Love it.... in a strong admiration way. For instance, it is not at all uncommon for the girls to buzz a certain section of their hair, or crop one side pixie short and have the other to the middle of their back. They will wear whatever they want- although, the baggier the better- and you know what? They rock it. I just love it. And it's not just the 15-25 crowd. It's everyone. Well, not 70 year olds, but even THEY have a style that would make some people fan themselves uneasily in the States. The Spanish just seem to have such a strong sense of who they are, and they cherish it, rather relish in it.. and what a shame it is for you if you care what they're wearing! Because they certainly do not care about you! Style as a medium in the United States, particularity the Midwest, is something that is allowed between an appropriate age bracket. So to see a 50 year old beautiful woman rocking whatever in the world she wants to wear, and doing it well... well, that just makes me proud!

Many people also opt out of the whole clothes thing, too. I found this out the hard way when I was waiting at a traffic light with a naked man on a bicycle. That made for a pretty long red light and a whole lot of looking directly straight. Naked rollerblading along the boulevard? Go for it!!

And if you feel like dancing to a one man band in the middle of the busiest street in Barcelona? Well, that's exactly what you do. You take those stupid shoes off, feel the beat, and let 'er rip.

If you feel sexy and unstoppable riding a one wheeled trike down the street shouting innuendos at possible clients, you're entitled to that too. When the bottle of paint at your feet gets a kick, and you're feeling artsy? You pick that bottle up and decorate a door or 20. Followed by your clothes, a few windows, and your bike.

If all this seems like too much to participat in? You are also entirely free to watch and enjoy.. It´s Barcelona, the free!
